Hello,
This is Mike Ballards oldest daughter Julie.... I was so touched to see this picture of my dad and The Henchmen with Sonny and Cher, he shared so many stories with us and this helps it come to life.
I would love to see any other pictures you all have out there of my Dad. It will be 10 years next month since we lost him, and every new picture helps keep him alive.
Julie,
Is your mom Peggy Jenkins? An old friend of mine from our young days in El Paso. We used to ride horses together in Canutillo and took a pretty irresponsible trip to California in 1967.
This is such a great and rare picture.
Dear Anon, My apologies for taking so long to respond I didn't realize there were comments back to my post. Yes my mother is Margaret (Peggy) Jenkins. It is amazing to me to see all this great photos resurfacing and really wish more pictures and stories of my Dad were being shared.
Dear Anon,
My apologies for taking so long post a response I haven't been on this site for quite some time. I was reading about the Border Legends Show for this October and happened to click on here.
Yes my mom is Peggy Jenkins. I will let her know that one of her childhood friends was asking about her.
The photo says 1965, however according to IMDB Good Times was released in 1967
Dear Julie,
So sorry for not checking back on this site earlier. Please tell your mom that Mickey Matteson (Schiesser) says hello. I may have met you once when you were a toddler and you were living out in the desert. Your family had just completed an addition with stone fireplace. I live in Virginia now and have a daughter named Julia and a son, Will. They are all grown up. Your mom and I had some wonderful times together. I remember going to dances where your dad played with the Henchmen. They were a great band.
